About the Society

The Holy Ghost Society of Santuit and Cotuit is believed to be one of the oldest societies in America. The Portuguese first arrived in the Santuit and Cotuit area in 1836. Many of these early settlers came from the Azores Islands.

Many of the current members of the Santuit & Cotuit Holy Ghost Society are direct descendants of the original Portuguese settlers.

We offer support to the community through scholarships and charitable contributions. We are a small organization with the genuine desire to carry on the traditions of the Portuguese.
